We are the home of everything from the Mississippi Symphony Orchestra to the Russell Davis Planetarium, the Jackson Zoological Park, and our very own AA baseball team, the Mississippi Braves. Our museums hold the fascination of everyone from die-hard art, sports, and history buffs to small children. A plethora of state parks, golf courses, and nearby lakes provide excellent getaways for camping, fishing, hunting, and water sports.

Food lovers, any variety of cuisine you may crave is probably right around the corner! Don't leave before you taste some of our famous Southern-cooking served up with a side of Southern hospitality and a glass of sweet tea.

The metro area boasts several excellent schools for K-12 children. Local colleges, universities, graduate schools, and seminaries are here to pursue almost any educational goals.

Our two residence halls for single students are conveniently located about three miles away from the academic campus. Limited married student/family housing is also available. Campus housing options are available on a first-come-first-served basis for students taking at least four credit hours per semester. We recommend that prospective students visit the campus and survey their housing options before relocating. Because seminary housing is limited, please contact Student Development for more information if you are interested.

If you'd like additional suggestions or are having trouble finding what you need/can afford, please let the Student Development office know and we will do our best to assist you in finding a comfortable and affordable place to live.

WBS's positive reputation gives students a helpful advantage when it comes to finding a nearby job. A wide variety of both full-time and part-time jobs are available in the metro area as well as a range of professional and vocational markets such as hospitals, schools, law firms, retail centers, etc. We regularly post requests from businesses and churches seeking applicants. In addition, connections within our seminary community often lead to students finding excellent jobs that work flexibly around class schedules. Occasionally, on-campus jobs are available (first priority goes to international students for visa restriction reasons).
